Privacy Policy
Effective:
This policy explains what information Love Hate Tap (“the site”, “we”) collects and how it is used. The site has no accounts and never asks for your name.
1. What stays on your device
Your game progress (points, level, achievements, coins, crystals, prisms, fans), your settings (language, effects, sound) and a random ID used for share links are saved in your browser’s local storage. They are not sent to us, except the share-link ID described below. You can delete them at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Transfer code (only if you create one): when you tap “Get my code” in the ⚙️ menu, a copy of your game progress and settings is saved on our server under a random 12-character code, and updated when you leave the page. It contains no name, e-mail or IP address. Anyone who knows the code can load that progress, so keep it private. To have it deleted, send us the code through the contact form.
2. What our server receives
- Taps. Which topic, LOVE or HATE, and the tap power. These are added to public totals.
- Country. Your country is worked out by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) from your IP address, and only the two-letter country code is stored with the totals. We do not store your city or exact location.
- IP address. Used briefly to limit tapping speed and to count each person once (players, removal requests, visits through share links). We store only a one-way hash of it (a scrambled value that cannot be turned back into the address), not the address itself.
- Share links. Links you share contain a random ID (
r=…). When someone opens one, we count a visit for that ID. The ID is not linked to your identity. - Topics, removal requests and messages. Topics you add, removal requests (with the reason you choose and any note you write) and messages sent through the contact form. If you want a reply, you may give an email address; it is used only to reply to you.
Our hosting provider may also keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of request) for security and operation. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
3. Other services the page loads
- Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons — topic names, descriptions and pictures are loaded straight from them, so they receive your IP address and browser details. See the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts — for the lettering. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — to count visits and see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies or store anything on your device, and does not track you across sites. See Cloudflare Web Analytics.
- Sharing — the X, LINE and WhatsApp buttons only open those services when you press them. Nothing is sent to them before that.
4. Advertising and cookies
The site is paid for by advertising. We may use Google AdSense or other ad partners. These partners, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and to measure ads.
- You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- You can turn off personalized ads from Google at Ads Settings, and from many other ad companies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalized ads are used, and you can change your choice at any time.
5. Why we use information
To run the game and the public totals, to show results by country, to stop cheating and abuse, to handle removal requests and messages, to keep the site working, and to show ads. Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are our legitimate interest in running and protecting the site and, for personalized ads, your consent.
6. How long we keep it
Public totals (taps, power, country counts) are kept while the topic exists. Hashed values used to count people once are kept as long as the related totals. Removal requests are kept until they are handled. Messages are deleted within 12 months after we read them. Transfer-code saves are kept until you ask us to delete them.
7. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Totals shown on the site are public and contain no personal information. We share information only with the service providers named above, or when required by law.
8. Your choices and rights
You can clear your browser data to delete everything stored on your device. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you, or to object to its use. Because we do not store names or raw IP addresses, we usually cannot link the server data to a specific person, but we will help where we can. Please use the contact form.
9. Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Articles about people under 18 cannot be added as topics.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
